New Trobruk found after storm November 10 2007.
This bunkersite is located on the Forest Reservate 'Ijzermonding' and the Military Barracks of Lombardsijde. Both are not free accessible. If you have the chance to search for bunkers here then it is advised to do so during an open door or with permission.
The Mkb Ramien/Stp Ramien

4 x 10.5cm S.K. L/40 guns replaced the previous ones from April 1 1944 on and were later placed in bunkers which are already gone.
Different emplacements of F.K., Pak, Kw.K., M.G emplacements.
Bunkertypes: 502, 2 x 621, 645, 4x 671 and L409A flak bunker.
Besides that different Sk bunkers, some of them survived.
NGI Chart and 'Google Earth' comarison of
the 'Ijzermonding': Left the Forest Reservate and at the east side of number
11 the Military Barracks.
Neither both of them are freely accessible !
During our fieldtrip of the part of the 'Ijzermonding' it was freezing cold with high winds of about 8-9 Beaufort !
3.Vf, Dummy R622
4.WC bunker, two seats.
5.Exploded ammunition bunker.
7.WC bunker, three seats
8.Sk Officers and Crew bunker.
11.Small Vf bunker
The waypoints have been measured 'on site' with a Garmin Etrex Legend.
'Google Earth' Detail of the 'Ijzermonding' Site. The well preserved trenches are visible just above number 10.
Google Earth' tilted view on the 'Ijzermonding' position, unfortunately no(yet) in 3D.
Overview of the site at the 'Ijzermonding'.
Much Debris but a few bunkers are intact.
Surprising there are a WC bunkers build here but this was a MKB battery.
Overview of the Bunkers.
In front a 'modified' R645 with at the left side a R621 Vf clone. In the background one of the two WC bunkers.
R645 Kitchen bunker. There's an extra entrance for the mobile Kitchen.
R645 Rudi Rolf plan of (modified with entrance for garage)
Some kind of annex was build next to the R645. Location on NGI map 1.
Backside of the bunker.
Number barely visible on the entrance of the R645.
The Tobruk from the inside.
2.Entrance of the tunnel.
Inside the tunnel. I don't know for which purpose these niches served.
3.The Crew bunker which resembles a R622.
Left: The road to the Vf bunker. Right and below: view inside.
Number 322 somewhere visible.
9.Watertank bunker.(I presume)
Two rooms, one smaller room inside the other.
Left: Entrance to smaller room.
Second WC bunker next to the large Officer and Crew Sk bunker.
4.WC bunker with two seats.
My friend R. Toussaint walking in the freezing
cold besides the WC bunker. It gives an idea about the dimensions.
Good protection against attacks(is this the place to hide?) but I really doubt this will help agains the cold we had to go through...
In front the cesspool and right the left entrance to the toilets.
Something has to float away... that's the way it goes...
5.Exploded Ammunition bunker . In the background left you can see an intact ammunition bunker 6.
Close view to the exploded bunker.
6.Inside the ammunition bunker. One room.
7.WC bunker with three seats, obviously serving for the large Officers and Crew Sk bunker.
Backside view and entrance of the bunker.
Inside. Not beeing used for a long time I presume...
Other view on the site.
8.Sk Crew and Officers bunker. According to other sources there could be a similar bunker near Boulogne.
Some views inside the bunker.
Heavy eroded door in one of the corridors.
At the time we went there in 2006 there
was already one entrance closed.
The labourers there told us that they were working on closing the other entrance as well to keep bats.
So most probably you can't enter this bunker anymore.
Trenches near position 10.
Some trenches are tunnels with small niches.
Some of the trenches are well preserved.
Others have collapsed.
Left: Post war construction ? Right: A brick construction now hidden under the dune sand.
The military barracs: there's the second part of MKB Ramien(Stp Ramien)
A new tobruk was found after the strom of November 10 2007.
Here are the credits:
The new found tobruk. It looks like it is comming down. Maybe a Tobruk MG Ringstand 58c.
Closer view. Right: Much trench debris has come down also.
Next to the Tobruk there was some kind of vf construction.
This could be the remains of a previous bunker.
Be carefull when visiting this location because the collapsing dunes can be hazard !
