WW1 Battery Sachsen

Updated March 28, 2012

The battery Sachsen was installed during janaury 1918.  It was a so called 'Ausweichstellung' meaning that it was used as a fast and mobile gun position.
It stood under command of the A.O.K IV.Armee.  Commander was L.t.d.R Stüwe.  It fired almost 40 times.

The battery used 4 x 17cm S.K.L/40 guns with a firing range of 24km.
Only one platform remains, the others have been cleaned up by farmers soon after WW1.

Just behind the St.Job chappel you can find the gun emplacement.

The only remaining gun position.
